White Stars and Crosses, A Poem by Author Bill Flynn

On Veteran’s Day, we pause to remember those who sacrificed their lives for each of us. The Crosses and Stars of David above their graves circle the globe.
I saw them at Anzio Beach
As far as my eyes could reach.
At Normandy, crosses and stars all white
Thousands lost in an invasion fight.
In Luxembourg at equal space
General Patton next to a private’s place.
At Hawaii’s Punch Bowl all in file
Pacific warriors with reporter Ernie Pyle.
So many white stars and crosses
Too many symbols of our losses.
