The Writing Traveler: How Came Thee here by Sue Roberts

How Came Thee Here

Great sand dunes,

some reaching 750 feet tall,

appear as if scooped up by the

hand of God and placed

in the incongruous setting.

Desert landscape and the

Sangre de Christo Range

Compose a backdrop for this

amazing vista.

Streams from the Medano Creek

flow through the dunes and

the southwest winds cause a

constant shift in sands –

ebbing and flowing almost

like a living entity.

The sands themselves, ever

changing, shaped by wind and water…

Always moving, searching…

for their home beside an ocean.
