Suzi Albracht: One of the Top Ten Writers of Paranormal Romance You Need To Be Reading
January 2, 2020
I write, scare myself, turn all the lights on, go write more horror, and double lock the door.
If you are reading this, I hope that means you are interested in knowing more about my writing. The books I write are supernatural horror crime thrillers and paranormal romance/ghost novels that include intense personal relationships between characters.
My characters have full, normal lives that get twisted into something else through no fault of their own. Whether they have become a ghost and discover a new undead world to roam or find themselves in pursuit of a dangerous madman with connections to the dark underworld, I want my readers to feel their pain, their joy, their fear… with every right or wrong turn they take along the way.
When I was young, I read everything I could get my hands on but was drawn to sci-fi, horror, and thrillers. I was a voracious reader who devoured books. As I matured, my main influences became Stephen King, Dean Koontz and William Faulkner. I humbly submit that my writing reflects a bit of all three of those great writers. I’ve been told that my style is similar to that of early Stephen King.
When I’m not writing, I shoot pool, watch movies, and create beautiful photo cards to display my books. You can visit me on Twitter or Facebook to see some of those beauties.
I can honestly say my twitter bio describes me to a T – Write, scare myself, turn all the lights on, write some more. Take a break, play pool, kick-butt/get butt kicked, go write more horror, double lock door.
Hey… Jordan here. I’m a dead guy hanging out in a closet at the hospital because I refused the direct super shuttle to Heaven. You see my wife was injured in the car accident that took my life but I stayed earthbound, determined to get her help. Now I’m a ghost hanging out in the OBX.
These days I keep watch over my still living wife and spend the rest of my time helping the dead deal with their untimely demises and unresolved issues. I had been a hot lick doctor before my untimely demise, so the job is right up my alley. I’m known as The Ghost Fixer.
At first, it was a fun gig, but now a case has come along that’s got the rumor mills burning and my ghost peeps panicking. It seems a Gloomy’s been snatching up some of our people and whisking them out of town. Now my fellow ghosts in the OBX are expecting me to bring our people home.
As you can see, my dead life’s super complicated. My ghost friends are disappearing like wisps of summer rain, and my wife’s going into labor. I’d say my dead life’s heating up.
Drunk pirates have kidnapped a young lady. A murderous Siren has secreted human bones in a chest. All that stands in their way is a love-struck ghost and his friends.
“I’m finding that being a ghost is complicated. Just two days ago I was thinking of grabbing a few beach days before I started my new assistant transition angel gig. Instead, I found myself scrambling to organize a rescue mission because some pirates had kidnapped one of our young ladies.
I admit it was freaking me out. I mean none of us are fighters, and drunk pirates are dangerous. So I had to devise a strategy to scare the bejesus out of them without endangering my people. I know it will work but how in the world can I convince T.L. to slap on some KISS make-up and those towering heels?
So, let’s just say my plan works. Even after we get our girl back home, I still have to find a way to trick Moira, the Siren of Diamond Shoals, out of the bones she has locked in a chest in her dungeon. Why? Because those are the bones of my friends’ husbands. We can’t just let her have them. And then there is Blackbeard.
He jumped me in a parking lot last night. He was picking tobacco from his teeth, flicking it at my feet and claiming he has our backs, but you know how pirates lie. See what I mean? Major complications.
Meanwhile, I am living a lie … I’m still talking to my wife…by phone. Sometimes… I drop in and just watch her. No, I am not a stalker. I know I should leave her to live her life, but I need to be with her… I love her. We want to be together. Yeah, being a ghost is not what I thought it would be… not by a long shot.”
I’m just a guy who is crazy in love with his wife. Okay, technically, I’m dead and hanging out in a closet at the hospital, but I still love my alive wife. So yeah, this is my ghost love story.
Now I’ve got some awesome things rocking out in my new existence… like a cool dude skateboarding angel to teach me how to be a ghost, and some ghost friends from the 1800s who are fun.
You could even say I live in a parallel universe to my alive life, but my heart is broken. I just need one last kiss from Emily or I’ll… Anyway, my ghost folks just discovered my secret desire and want to help, but will it be too dangerous?
This is a “laugh and then cry, and then laugh again” novel. Jordan’s story of love and loss is endearing and uplifting. You just might find your heart embracing the possibility of life after death. Enjoy reading about Jordan and his friends as they deal with the same dilemmas and fears as the living.
