Let me introduce you to writer/blogger Marlena Smith who’s appearing tonight at 8 p.m. EDT on the Voice of Indie Podcast, hosted by Beem Weeks and Stephen Geez.
Marlena Smith is a multi-genre author that uses her own small town life experiences to create stories of the same.
Her publications include:
The Intruder: A Short Thriller
Ella: A Romantic Novella
Writing Prompts to Bring Out Your Dark Side
Marlena grew up in Alabama with a love of words and creativity.
She still lives in that small town today with her family and has never lost that passion.
She spends her days working with churches to help them grow, and her nights creating tales.
Marlena says: “I prefer to call myself a creative soul, even though writing is my top priority. My passions extend beyond that though, like to photography and baking.
“Of course, we can’t forget about my family. Some by blood, many by choice. They keep me grounded.
“Ok, back to the writing. I’ve had a love of words for as long as I can remember. Reading was a major pastime for me growing up and is still one of my favorite things today. If only I had more time to devote to it. Curse you, adulthood! I suppose my love of reading and escaping into new worlds contributed to my passion for writing. I mean, there isn’t much better than getting lost in your own imagination. It’s an incredible place to be!
“I enjoy writing so much, not only have I self-published some books, but I also have three websites. Each site is devoted to a different niche-books and writing; lifestyle and pop culture; true crime, history, and haunts. What can I say? My mind is that of a true writer. All over the place!”

She only wants a fresh start and a life away from the big city.
Scarlet finds herself in the small town of Belmont, Montana. It’s a quiet town with a lot of charm.
One she didn’t expect to fall in love with, but it offers something magical.
Will her past catch up to her?
Will she be forced back into the life she hates?
Will she risk everything for a chance at love?
Ella has hit rock bottom. The only thing on her mind is getting home, but her car breaks down five hours away from her destination. She finds herself stuck in the unfamiliar town of Paradise Falls.
Instead of spending hours waiting on car repairs, Ella meets a local who invites her to help with the town’s Harvest Festival.
Thanks to the kindness of a stranger, she’s able to find joy in her favorite time of the year.
The few hours for car repairs quickly turn into an overnight visit, as Ella continues to enjoy the festivities.
Her fondness of the town grows with each passing day, forcing Ella to make a difficult decision.
Should she follow her heart or continue the plan she’s always had for her life?
