Weekends Required by Sydney Landon Purchase:

With an intriguing plot and characters who breathe, you cannot help but feel their pain, and celebrate their joy.

Claire Walters has worked for Jason Danvers as his assistant for three years, but he’s never appreciated her as a woman – until the day she jumps out of a cake at his friend’s bachelor party….

To support her ailing mother, Claire is forced to work a second job at a party-planning company. But when her handsome boss ends up with a front-row seat to the action, she’s mortified – and he’s intrigued.

With Danvers International in the middle of an important merger, Jason asks Claire to accompany him on weekend business trips – and suddenly all her fantasies are coming true. Her outspoken best friend thinks that getting a little “executive attention” will solve everything. But Claire sees more in Jason than just sex.

Jason is determined to know how the beautiful, sexy woman in the cake could also be his mousy assistant. The more time they spend together, the more he realizes how much fun it can be to mix business with pleasure. And how much he wants to offer her a happily ever after of her own….

Review by Samantha Charles, author of Redemption:

I turned the first page expecting a romance novel, imbued with lust, longing and love and it is all there, but Landon provides so much more. With an intriguing plot and characters who breathe, you cannot help but feel their pain, and celebrate their joy. Weekends Required, the first in the Danver Series, was my first Sydney Landon novel, but it is certainly not my last.

Sydney Landon sure knows how to keep a girl entertained! I really liked this book! Jason, ” Mr. Smoking Buns” as Suzy calls him, is sizzling !(For reference, look at the cover of the book!) Claire is someone who is relatable and I can sympathize with her situation… Well, I don’t know if I would jump out of cakes barely dressed for extra money but I can see how someone could be driven to do so for the sake of family. I can relate with the clumsiness though(not that I should be advertising it but it’s the truth) I like the flow of the story and character development… Sydney had me at “Holy Smoking Buns” -the first line of the book. The sex scenes are steamy and HOT but in no way raunchy. We are introduced to very likeable characters (Suzy, Grayson (YUM, YUM ) and witty repartee that kept my attention and the boringness away..

It is an easy read – I read it the night after a co-worker recommended it- but this fact, in no way takes away from what the author was trying to produce: an entertaining, love novel that emphasizes the importance of being hardworking, dedicated, and altruistic for the sake of those you love; but also, letting go of misconceptions and past ghosts to be able to live, love, laugh in the present and look forward to the future optimistically.

I was so enthralled (heavy word! LOL) with this story that I couldn’t wait to read Suzy’ story. I immediately bought it and got on it the following few nights! My hubby was not too happy but it was a nice get away better than watching a movie …and now I can’t wait until December for the 3rd book!

Love you Sydney Landon… You are one of my top 5 novel writers (Hands in the air/dancing in my underwear!!)
