Skipping Stones by J. B. McGee

Skipping Stones by J. B. McGee Purchase:

A heartwarming journey of two souls who know that they are meant for each other.

They say there are five stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance.

Not everyone will grieve in this order, nor will everyone go through every stage. It’s during the stage of denial when Alex Hart meets Andrew Foster. He takes her one-step closer to acceptance: the stage when new, meaningful relationships are formed. The stage when the realization occurs that this is now the new state of normal.

Just when Alex thinks she is on her way to healing, she enters the bargaining phase. That’s the phase where you wonder what you could have done differently. You wonder “what if?” Specifically, what if the ones you loved hadn’t left you?

Leaving…this is what makes heading off to war so difficult and frightening for Alex. She knows all too well what it’s like to be the one on the losing end of life, which is why she’s made it her personal mission in life to save as many lives as possible. The extreme high she gets from treating trauma victims turns into Alex’s own form of therapy, or so she thinks.

When faced with her world being turned upside down, Alex may just find that her true therapy is in the one who has always saved her.

Skipping Stones is a stand alone novel.

Review by mjlovestoread: Skipping Stones is simply a beautiful book. It is the latest in a long line of exquisite reads by JB McGee. I swear the woman’s writing only gets better with time.

This tells the story of Lexi Hart, a 15 year old girl, whose whole world revolves around her very loving family. She really loves her mom, dad and grandparents to the point where she would rather spend time with them than her friends. She knows she is an old soul and wouldn’t change being that way for anything!

However, tragedy strikes her seemingly perfect world and Lexi is left in a tailspin of emotions, feeling like the bricks piling up on her chest will crush her.

Until she fatefully meets Drew Foster by her beloved creek and her world will never be the same again.

This love story of Lexi and Drew/Stone could have been trite with the typical HEA, lots of steamy sex, heartbreak and suffering…yada yada yada. However, JB McGee gives us the heartwarming journey of two souls who know that they are meant for each other. We are taken on a journey of disappointment, indecision, heartbreak, separation and then are warmly rewarded with true love, devotion to family, sweet fate and a story so profound you can’t help but smile broadly at it’s conclusion.

This is the purest of love stories yet I never ever felt shortchanged or empty. Skipping Stones will fill your heart with such warmth and joy, it will want to burst.

I cannot recommend this book enough. If you haven’t as yet discovered all the greatness that is JB McGee, this is the perfect place to start. You will not be disappointed!!
