Partners by Mimi Barbour Purchase:

    Sizzling with Romance.

Suspenseful and fast-paced, this short story will introduce you to Aurora Morelli and Kai Lawson; the characters who star in the full-length sequel “Roll the Dice.”

Forced to take on a new partner, after a serial rapist attacks her former one, annoys Aurora big time. Especially when he’s the kind of hotshot she normally stays as far away from as possible.

But, because they both want this man more than anything else, they ignore the irritating explosions they set off from one another. And finding this slimeball becomes their ultimate goal.

When attractive Las Vegas detective Aurora Morelli makes a friend, she takes the relationship very seriously…and if anyone hurts that person, they’re going down!

While Aurora may be slim and dainty on the outside, she has the heart of a lion, and when angry, the manners of a she-cat. The sick schmuck who dared attack her partner, Debbie, is now her prime target, and nothing or no one will stand in her way–except maybe her new partner, a purse-carrying, Bruce Willis lookalike who arrives in town seeking vengeance on the same culprit.

Kai Lawson doesn’t want a partner. Especially if she’s one he has to protect. After all, his mind is solely on getting to the animal who raped his sister. The same guy responsible for her suicide. Vengeance is mine saith the Lord. That was Kai’s plan, also.

I’m an author who loves to read uplifting stories about romance. Add in some time travel, or maybe an angel, or even a little romantic suspense and it makes the story more fascinating because of the incredible possibilities.

Mimi Barbour was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, too long ago to mention the date. She lives on the beautiful East coast of Vancouver Island and writes her paranormal romances with tongue-in-cheek and a mad glint in her eye. Asked why she prefers paranormal or suspense, she answers, chuckling…

“Because it’s fun! Imagination can be a lot more interesting than what happens in real life to so-called normal people. I love my characters, and my goal is to make the readers love them also. To care about what happens to them while the story unfolds. If I can steal my booklover’s attention away from their every day grind, absorb them into a fantasy love story, and make them care about the ending, then I’ve done my job.”

(In 2000, while living in Guinea, West Africa, Mimi started taking correspondence creative writing courses. Upon returning to Canada, she signed onto a four year program with the Children’s Institute of Literature to work on Children’s Stories. After some time and very few sales, she switched her genre to romance. Since this is what she loves to read, she decided to put her energies into writing the kinds of books she would enjoy – for others.)

    Review by Clare Chu:

Aurora Morelli is as tough as they come. Ultra feminine yet wielding a big stick and a bigger attitude. When her partner is brutally hurt, she is determined to crack the creep who did it. Her interrogation tactics squeeze the truth out of a wuss of an informant, but she meets her match in her new partner, a sexy, arrogant purse-carrying cowboy, Kai Larson.

When he covers her during a gunfight, sparks fly in more ways than one and chemistry simmers.
