Money Land by R. S. Guthrie

Money Land by R. S. Guthrie Purchase:

This story carries you along at a cracking pace.

MONEY LAND is the sequel to the bestselling and riveting Blood Land, that introduced the Sheriff James Pruett Mystery/Thriller series. Big crime has come literally crashing down on the small town of Wind River, Wyoming.

When a small plane bound for the Canadian border carrying money for the Sustantivo Cartel smashes into the glacial Wind River Mountains, the event brings a heartless evil presence to one of the more remote places on earth.

The tail of the plane is discovered, empty. No drugs. No money. Shortly afterward, people start dying. When the cartel comes to town, Pruett will do anything within his power to save his town, his people, the land, and his family. Anything.

Once again in the sparse, gritty, starkly poetic styling of James Lee Burke, Tony Hillerman, and John D. MacDonald, R.S. Guthrie brings you his classic hero, at odds against the drug cartel, his own friends and citizens, and federal agencies that begin to sniff out a chance to attack an international crime organization.

For short time, Money Land (and the first book in the series, Blood Land) are being offered free. You can download Blood Land on it’s Amazon page (http://amzn.to/BLOODLAND) and Money Land here: http://bit.ly/rsguthrie.

As I said with BLOOD LAND, the first thing you should do is buy this book! Go there, buy it, like I did. This is top-quality literary fiction at a bargain price! If you haven’t read it yet, go ahead and get BLOOD LAND and read it first. It will give you a much better foundation and understanding of the demons which pursue Sheriff James Pruett relentlessly and form his breadth of character, though Money Land can stand on its own with ease.

As with the first novel in this series, this is an absolutely gorgeous second act. The author writes with the soul of a poet; his prose is killer! He delivers his characters completely formed, with their philosophical leanings as well as their physical characteristics all in place.

The background is placed where the author grew up, with rough, rugged characters that mirror that terrain. This and the first one in the series make an epic story, and I’m hard-put to imagine the author will confine it to a mere three books. Sheriff Pruett has the intensity of character to turn into many years of writing, without a doubt! We can only hope the author doesn’t leave us hanging at three.

I continue to be impressed with the soulful writing of author Guthrie…a man who has clearly known pain and its residual effects. He has a very deep mind and articulate voice which can twist and turn your emotions with great ease, leaving you breathless! As I said with the first book, you’ll never, ever see the next thing coming. Guthrie is the master of grabbing your attention and slamming it into a wall of conundrums. You will find yourself asking, “Oh, hell, how’s he gonna get out of that?”, over and over. None of his writing is poorly contrived or gratuitous. It’s as real as fiction can get.

MONEY LAND is fiction at its best. I joyfully recommend it to readers who are sick of boring plots, characters and stories. Author Guthrie can and will take you on a ride that will haunt you for a long time. He will cause you to question your own soul as to what lengths you would go to protect your community and way of life. It is deep, wide, brimming with vivid life, and very, very memorable!!
