This is a most interesting read and is also thought provocative. The beginning finds two friends searching for life among the unburied dead. And, yes “life” is found and this life proves to be the main focus of this novelette. An old Museum comes into play as does a mysterious Ghost Island.

In any short story, the ending is so important to me. This ending satisfied my requirement for a surprise and left me with many questions. Well done to this author.

    Most highly recommended.

    Review by Thomas Baker:

Looking For Life, by Elizabeth Wixley, is a fast read. Its premise is well thought out, provocative, and induces the reader to turn the pages fast. This is a page turner. (quote) “I hate this planet.”  Georgina

“It will be okay, so long as we stick to the safe zone and follow all the rules.”  Susan

This seemingly innocent dialogue between Georgina and Susan is brilliant foreshadowing. Obviously the reader wants to know why Georgina hates the planet. Once we find out, either consciously or unconsciously the reader will have to reject or accept Georgina’s attitude towards the planet as valid or invalid. What is important is that Author Elizabeth Wixley has given us a purpose to turn the pages of this book.

As for Susan, it is clear that they will: 1. NOT stick to the safe zone, and 2. NOT follow all the rules. The only thing left is to discover what their fate will be. What consequences will they have to pay? You must read this well-written story to find out. Also, be prepared for contemporary issues to be dealt with that will leave you in a reflective mood.

Highly recommended for readers who enjoy a well-written, thought-provoking read.

    Review by Bridgitte:

This book was a great little read packed full of mystery. Two friends share a potentially devastating secret. All the way through it was rich in plot but the real punch came at the end.

I loved the way everything tied up and the secrets were revealed. Can’t say too much because I don’t want to spoil it by giving away the surprise. And what a surprise! I would highly recommend this short book.
