What happens when you witness world events that have yet to happen in her lifetime, including 9/11, Hurricane Sandy, Y2K hysteria and the COVID pandemic?
It’s the fall of 1998, and librarian Samantha Stewart is looking for a new job. After seeing an ad for a high-paying position at a company called Virtual Software that entails research and travel, Sam investigates the company and learns that its president has gone missing, and that it’s currently being run by the vice-president Greg Parsons.
Before Sam makes it to the interview, she’s visited by a strange woman who introduces herself as Jane Oldsfield: a time traveler whose mission Greg Parsons is trying to prevent.
Sam ignores the woman and goes on the job interview anyway. Soon, she finds herself involved not only with Greg Parsons, but also Philip Montmart, a chain-smoking detective with a vendetta for his wife’s killer, and the time-traveling Oldsfield and her feline accomplice.
Witnessing world events that have yet to happen in her lifetime, including 9/11, Hurricane Sandy, Y2K hysteria and the COVID pandemic, can Samantha figure out Oldsfield’s plans?
Meet Debbie De Louise:
My name is Debbie De Louise. I’m a reference librarian at a public library on Long Island and the award-winning author of the Cobble Cove cozy mystery series that consists of 5 books and 5 stories that will be published in a collection soon. I’ve also published six other standalone novels and a non-fiction cat book. All my books are available on Amazon in paperback and as eBooks and are part of the Kindle Unlimited program. A few are also in large print, hardcover, and audio. My psychological thriller, SEA SCOPE, is also in Spanish. I have a B.A. in English and an MLS in Library Science.
My first novel, a paranormal romance, CLOUDY RAINBOW, was written after my beloved cat, Floppy, died from diabetic and liver complications. The book was dedicated to him, and he is featured as a character in it. CLOUDY RAINBOW was reprinted by my publisher with fresh edits, a new cover, and a few updates.
My second novel, the first book of the Cobble Cove mystery series, A STONE’S THROW, is the story of a widowed librarian who visits her husband’s hometown and finds a new love with the town’s newspaper publisher but also discovers some alarming truths about her husband’s death and its connection to the publisher and his family. Along with a variety of characters, there is also a cat and dog who play minor but interesting roles in the novel. The other books in my Cobble Cove series include BETWEEN A ROCK AND A HARD PLACE, WRITTEN IN STONE, LOVE ON THE ROCKS, and NO GRAVESTONE UNTURNED.
The Cobble Cove Stories, available as eBooks, include CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS WITH MY CHARACTERS, SNEAKY’S CHRISTMAS MYSTERY (winner of the 2020 Cat Writers’ Association’s Muse Medallion award), SNEAKY’S SUMMER MYSTERY, and KITTYKAI’S EASTER MYSTERY. These stories are included in a print edition along with a new story. The collection is called SNEAKY’S SUPERNATURAL MYSTERY AND OTHER COBBLE COVE STORIES.
I’ve also published a romantic comedy novella, WHEN JACK TRUMPS ACE and three standalone mysteries, REASON TO DIE, SEA SCOPE, and MEMORY MAKERS. I’ve also written a time-travel novel, TIME’S RELATIVE. My non-fiction cat book, PET POSTS: THE CAT CHATS, features full-color photos of my cats and is told from the cats’ points of view about feline health and behavior issues. This book is being reprinted by Next Chapter with a new cover under the title MEMORIES AND MEOWS.
I’m a member of International Thriller Writers, Sisters-in-Crime, the Cat Writers’ Association, and Long Island Authors Group and have published articles in Cats Magazine and Catnip (Tufts University Veterinary Newsletter). I won the Glamour Puss special award from Hartz Corporation for my Catster.com article, “Brushing your cat for bonding, beauty, and better health,” (June, 2016). My short mystery, “Stitches in Time” was published in the CAT CRIMES THROUGH TIME Anthology, (1999).
I’ve published several other short stories of various genres in the RED PENGUIN COLLECTION of anthologies and have also been published in Red Penguin’s BLOOM LITERARY MAGAZINE.
My poems are featured in the NASSAU COUNTY VOICES IN VERSE 2020 and 2022 anthology and the 2020 BARDS ANNUAL. I live on Long Island with my husband, Anthony; daughter, Holly; and our cats, Harry, and Hermione.

Review by Kindle Customer:
If there’s anything I love more than telling a great story, it’s reading one. I couldn’t put this down. DeLouise’s characters engaged and intrigued me set against the backdrop of time.
Is it all an illusion and we mortals mere toys to be buffeted about at the whims of the past/present/future space-time continuum?
Prepare yourself for a thrilling roller coaster ride of a story that will make you hold your breath as you flip the pages as fast as you can read them. Loved it!!
