Review: A fast-paced action thriller that offers readers a touch of adventure, suspense, tension, and romance.

How far will a killer go for revenge

Some assignments are deadly…

Detective Jessica Foster is worn out.

She’s spent months hunting a crazed killer while juggling a case load that never ends, her unpredictable family and forbidden feelings for her partner, Seth Hamilton.

When the suspect she sought is finally captured near Denver, she and Seth must bring him back to Texas for trial.

She dreads the long drive because it means close proximity to the man who haunts her dreams and makes her long for things she can never have.

Seth has known for some time that Jess is the one for him. Instinct tells him the feelings are mutual, but she never lets her guard down.

Undeterred, he vows to use the prolonged road trip to get beyond those barriers and uncover the truth.

Until a disastrous turn of events changes everything.

Now a ruthless killer bent on revenge targets Jess, and his thirst for vengeance will only be satisfied by her death.

A die-hard romantic, her stories are filled with strong women, second chances, and happily ever after.

“I’m all about the romance, so my tales are heartwarming, have a splash of suspense and humor. While they are a little steamy, I believe romance is more about emotion than sex, and the journey is more important than the destination.

“I retired in late 2013 and published my first book in 2016. I was over the moon when it was awarded first place in a contest through the Texas Association of Authors, and I never looked back. Review by Natalie Soine for Readers’ Favorite 5 Stars!

In Dana Wayne’s novel The Detail, detectives Jessie Foster and Seth Hamilton are assigned to fetch Jack Walls to stand trial on suspicion of murder.

During their return trip, the three are involved in a collision and Jack manages to escape while Seth and Jess are seriously injured. Upon hearing the news, Jess’s brother Tony returns from active duty.

Tony introduces Jess to Luke Collins who also returned from duty to take care of his friend Carter’s younger brother Mason. While hunting for Jack and trying to stay safe, Seth and Jess remain in close proximity to each other.

Seth has known for some time that Jess is the one for him and the feeling is mutual. Jess is in danger as Jack targets her and, although protected by Seth and Tony, someone is providing information to Jack who is out for revenge.

The Detail is a thrilling, romantic story. Dana Wayne is an outstanding author, and her talent shows through as the story unfolds. The interesting array of characters is easy to relate to, including the friends and family of Jess and Seth.

The scenes and locations are well described, from Jess’s home to Jack’s hideouts. I enjoyed the smooth flow of the story, easy and comfortable to read. I especially appreciate the recipes that Dana includes, allowing the reader to enjoy the same meals as the characters, saving me the trouble of looking up the recipe. All-round, an exceptional story, thoroughly enjoyable, and highly recommended to all adults.
