Want your heart to race a time or two?
Can’t wait to get started?
Don’t want to see it end?
Then you’ve found the right book.
Carolyn Arnold has been one of the mystery genre’s finest writers for a long time now. And she delivers again in her newest novel, The Day Job Is Murder. The book isn’t long. It’s more of a novella. But it does exactly what a good novel should do.
It grabs your attention.
It plays with your imagination.
The murder intrigues you.
The simmering love affair between two detectives who should never have a love affair between them is as riveting as the murder. The tension is electric. All great novels hang in the balance between love and death. The Day Job is Murder has the perfect balance.
It is a novel definitely worth reading. It possesses all of the ingredients that a good book should have.
The Book: The Day Job is Murder
The Author: Carolyn Arnold
The Story: For Sean McKinley, working in Albany PD Homicide is great except for one thing—he’s in love with his partner Sara Cain. And even though she feels the same way about him, she convinced him they should just remain friends. Two years later, nothing has changed.
Yet, during the course of a murder investigation, when Sean finds out an old friend has died, it results in something that has the potential to change his life—and Sara’s—forever.
It goes to prove one unexpected act of kindness has the power to ripple throughout the years and bring happiness…even when The Day Job is Murder.
About the Author: Carolyn Arnold published her first book, TIES THAT BIND, the first in her Madison Knight Series, in 2011 and it became a best-seller, reaching the top 100 in Police Procedurals in the US and in the UK on Amazon.
Her novel ELEVEN was noted as a recommended read on The Examiner’s “Top 12 Fiction Books of 2011”. Her writing has been compared to New York Times Bestsellers such as JD Robb, Mary Higgins Clark, Sue Grafton, Michael Connelly, Tess Gerritsen, and more.
She is a member of Crime Writers of Canada and lives with her husband, and two beagles in a city near Toronto.
Review by Susan: Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy…….another series by Carolyn Arnold……..and this new small story is an introduction!! This love story is about two murder detectives who are partners.
Sara is sure if they date, it will mean the end of their partnership and friendship when they break up. Sean has much more faith in their love. The energy expended by both to deny themselves the joy of their love is heartbreaking.
I just love the personalities of these two main characters. As usual, the writing is crisp and descriptive. I am so looking forward to more of this series!
Review by American Daughter: I’m a big fan of a good detective story, but I especially love ones that are on the lighthearted, romantic side. The Day Job is Murder is the perfect blend of mystery, humor, and romance that combine to introduce the plot of this new series by Arnold.
It’s a fast-paced, entertaining novella in the realm of the popular TV shows Castle and Bones, about two partners who are as in tune personally as they are professionally.
Sean and Sara are easy to love and now that their story is set up I can’t wait to see what happens in subsequent novellas of this series.
