After a successful career being other people, and later teaching others the many tricks of that trade, Maer Wilson has decided to be herself for a while. Turns out she’s a writer.

She’s always loved stories, especially fantasy, mystery and sci fi. Maer was born in the Year of the Dragon and has a dragon-themed room in her home, but sadly no dragons in the back yard.

When she’s not writing, Maer plays online video games, teaches college and reads. She also co-hosts the literary podcast MythBehaving. Maer lives in the high desert of Southern Nevada with her three dogs, a chihuahua and two poodles.

Maer is the author of MODERN MAGICS, a series that chronicles what happens when magic returns to present-day Earth. There are currently three books in the series: RELICS, PORTALS, and MAGICS. There are also four prequel novelettes.

Review by Anna Othitis: Ghost Dancer by amazing author Maer Wilson is an amazing and wonderful ghost detective story. Thulu and La Fi are busy with requests from the dead to solve their problematic issues. Danika a ten year little ten year old girl looks for her loving dog who went missing. The medium La Fi and her husband Thulu begin the search for the dog and go onto find the killer.

This story has a great sense of humor, gripping and interesting with a sense of charm and warmth. The story is a simple suspense and crime investigation which I started and did not put the book down till the very end. La Fi a favored character very caring, gentle with a great sense of wit. Highly recommended book and very much enjoyed. Look forward to more reading from Author Maer.

Review by Jeremy L. Johnson: This was the first in the this series I’ve read. But I quickly downloaded the other two Ghost Memory and Unwanted Ghost. Thulu and La Fi own a detective agency for the dead. I loved the concept of this book and how Maer sold it to the reader making it very believable.

Thulu and La Fi are hired by a young girl named Danika who has been on TV as gone missing with her dog. Danika is worried about her dog, and with the help of another friendly ghost “Parker” Thulu and La Fi are able to both rescue the dog and lead detectives straight to the monster that killed Danika. This story got to me. It dealt in a rather subtle way with child abduction and abuse making the reader wish for justice.

Maer does a fabulous job of keeping the reader hooked and turning the pages. The story moves at a brisk pace with smooth dialogue that is flawless. This is the first I’ve read of Maer, but as I said before, I’m planning to jump into the others soon.
