Books in a mystery or suspense or thriller genre have an underlying theme of good chasing down evil, and the plot works whether the novel takes place in our world or another’s world. It’s forever good against evil, and imagination – especially when it’s generated from the minds of Kathy Lynn Hall or Kelly Abell – always wins.
The Book: Red Is an Attitude
The Author: Kathy Lynn Hall
The Story: In the sequel to Red Mojo Mama, Lydia “Red” Talbot continues her adventures with Mac, her late husband who has now been re-incarnated as a Great Dane puppy; Joe, the hot handyman and her new paramour; and the residents of her inherited trailer park and the Gold Country city of Nuggetville.
She and Joe take a pet-friendly cruise to Mexico, bringing along Mac. A new mystery springs up onboard and Red becomes embroiled in solving it, but trouble follows her back to Nuggetville.
Mac isn’t a ghost any longer, so a new spirit arrives to help Red through the most dangerous of her escapades.
Review: Kathy Lynn Hall is a wonderful and fun read. She writes in a light, conversational tone that has humor, romance and suspense. The characters are very likeable and the main character “Red” is a honest, real and loveable Once I started this book I could not put it down., Red, will captivate you as effectively as her red hair captivates those around her in this book. The storyline moves quickly and you will find that it will become difficult to put down! Second, the reader must be able to stretch the limits of their imaginations a bit; but no worries there since the book does it for you. Don’t let the title fool you either as this story is filled with suspense, mystery, murder, even sex!
Review: Could not stop reading! Kathy Lynn Hall’s books are funny, sad, and sexy all at the same time! Lydia “Red” Talbot is by far my favorite character to date! Red was funny and heartbreaking all at the same time. Most of all, she came alive. As a man, this was the most realistic portrayal of a woman I have seen in a long time. A woman with all her good points but flaws as well. The author not only made the character “Red” come alive, she made me the reader come alive as well. Will definitely read – at least some parts of it – over and over again. I am hoping for a sequel…I am sure Red has more adventures to share!
The Book: Cursed
The Author: Kelly Abell
The Story: A Hunter of the Cross, super sexy Gabriel Rome rids the world of evil. Descended from the first member of the order, angelically blessed Dr. Igor Romanoff, and raised by monks, Gabriel has a job to do and this time it’s personal. Gabriel’s heart love and life companion Grace, a formidable huntress in her own right is cursed. Doomed by the Dark Witch to roam the earth in wolf form, and robbed of the love of her man and something they both held precious, Grace is on the hunt…for revenge.
Continuing to battle evil, the inseparable pair sought and finally located the elusive Dark Witch again, but they have no idea the secret she’s kept from them for the past five years. They must kill the witch to end the curse and restore Grace’s humanity, but Medea’s lair holds more than one surprise for these Hunters of the Cross.
A thrilling new venture in Paranormal Romance by Author Kelly Abell, this short story is Episode One of the Hunter’s of the Cross Chronicles. Follow Gabriel and Grace as they continue their hunt for something most precious, battle under the watchful eye of the Archangel Michael and rid the world of the evil that threatens humanity.
Review: Sometimes I just want to read a short story and this one was terrific! I didn’t see the twist at the end coming and it makes for a great continuation of the series. I liked the bond between the hero and heroine, and the turns and twists of the plot, as well as the fight scenes between good and evil had me biting my nails. I look forward to reading the next story in the series.
Review: Cursed kept me involved through the whole thing. I couldn’t put it down. I loved the characters Gabriel and Grace. It had a sort of Van Helsing feel to it, which I absolutely loved but the twist about his companion was wonderful. I don’t want to give too much detail so I don’t give the story away, but it is definitely worth the read. Five stars!
