The Book: Ashes
The Author: P. M. Briede
The Story: They walk among us, weave in and out of our lives as they see fit, pushing us towards calamity. Who they are today may not be who they are tomorrow.
I am drawing a line in the sand, one they crossed long ago.
Having now learned that every betrayal, every tragedy I’ve faced in my life was orchestrated by exiled angels, I’m tired of being manipulated. And not only me, but also my friends and family. There’s no such thing as freewill. We’re all just pawns in a giant chess game for the fate of eternity. I desperately wish I could walk away. But at this point, I can’t, and I refuse to stand by any longer and watch people get hurt; watch people die.
The exiled plan is becoming clear, chaos and destruction across the globe. Everything we think is senseless, these are all just tactics from the exiles to turn humanity against itself. I’m left with no other alternatives. But how do you infiltrate an enemy when you can’t trust the face or identity of anyone? Yet, I hold out hope. I have an exile on my side, a double agent if you will, who can no longer stand idly by.
So this is it. Charlotte Grace is going on the offensive. I may not be much, but you better hope that I’m enough.
About P. M. Briede:
I am a lover of all things artistic. I grew up surrounded by the performing arts both as a spectator and performer. That love of creation and design is the fuel for my writing now. Being able to create and entertain is a dream come true.
The imagination is a powerful thing, able to take you places you never dreamed. I write realistic fantasy. The idea of the possible having impossible explanations fascinates me. That idea is the driving force behind the Charlotte Grace series and The Underground.
Review by Amazon Customer:
It is very rare that I find a book that causes me to read in awe, amazement, and excited for each and every chapter. However, I was pretty sure that I would feel this way about Ashes, the third installment to this series.
There isn’t much I can say, that hasn’t already been said, other than I am completely amazed by the depth of the characters. They connected in ways that only world-renowned authors seem to do. This series could and should definitely be a bestseller.
Review by M. Brown:
I’m not sure how I missed the first two books, I picked up this one not fully realizing it was part of a series. I’m glad I did, because I’m a new fan of this author. She has created a cast of characters that you can’t help but really like. If I could give this book more stars, I would.
I was totally and completely engrossed in this book from page one, and had a very difficult time putting it down until I finished it. It’s that good. I love a book that I enjoy reading, and come away from feeling like I met some new people that I really liked. I feel that way with this book, the characters are unique and vibrant.
The author does a really good job with her descriptions, so much so that you are right there with the characters, seeing what they see, feeling what they do and truly caring about what happens to them.
The book is extremely well written, the story line is amazing, the character development is stellar, and the story flows easily from chapter to chapter. This is definitely a book you do not want to miss.
